Innovation Talk Podcast: Sotiris Diamantopoulos discusses the ENCRYPT project

In a recent episode of the Innovation Talk Podcast by Crowd Policy, Sotiris Diamantopoulos, the coordinator of the ENCRYPT project, provided insights into the project’s goals and its future impact on data protection technologies.

He presented ENCRYPT as a funded by the European Union project which brings together 14 organizations from eight countries, aiming to simplify secure data processing for companies and institutions.

He highlighted how ENCRYPT seeks to solve this by making these technologies more user-friendly and practical while also emphasizing a growing shift in data security: moving from an era of full data protection to one focused on sharing data securely. He noted that ENCRYPT’s long-term goals include facilitating the safe sharing of data in European Data Spaces, unlocking significant potential in fields such as healthcare. For example, sharing anonymized health data securely could lead to valuable insights and innovations.

Sotiris concluded that while the project’s commercial applications may take time to emerge, the foundational technologies developed by ENCRYPT will play a crucial role in shaping the future of secure data sharing across Europe.
